Cybersecurity researchers at Proofpoint say they detected a 500% jump in attempted mobile malware attacks during the first few months of 2022, with significant peaks at the beginning and end of February. The main aim of a substantial proportion of mobile malware is to steal usernames and passwords for email or bank accounts, but many forms of mobile malware are also equipped with invasive snooping capabilities to record audio and video, track your location, or even wipe your content and data....

Cruise operator Royal Caribbean will deploy Starlink across its entire fleet to improve connectivity for guests and crew. Cruise ships have in the past had to rely on expensive satellite internet services that rarely offer enough bandwidth to do a Zoom meeting. Royal Caribbean promises Starlink will be a game-changer for passengers. “Kickass Internet connection coming Royal Caribbean ships soon!”, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said on Twitter. Royal Caribbean tweeted that the fleet-wide Starlink deployment will deliver “game-changing, high-speed internet”....

Total revenue for the company was up 253% to AU$44 million compared to the same time last year, while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) spiked 320% to AU$2.6 million, and net profit shifted from a AU$700,000 loss to a positive AU$500,000. The group, Digital Industry Group Inc (DiGi), said the expansion entails creating a new independent committee to police the voluntary code for misinformation and disinformation. These independent members will work with signatories, through an administration sub-committee, to oversee the various actions taken by signatories to meet their obligations under the code, DiGi said. The updated voluntary code will also see DiGi create a new complaints portal. The new portal will accept complaints from the Australian public where they believe a signatory has breached the code’s commitments....
